Hence, there are a number of traditional Scottish melodies that form the basis for these variants. Perhaps you will recognise, in sequence: ‘The dashing white sergeant’, ‘My bonnie lies over the ocean’, ‘Skye boat song’, ‘Bonnie Dundee’.
