Composed by Alan Fernie.
St Andrew's Variations was written in 1998 for the East Anglian Brass Band association's Contest in Norwich that year. Originally, it was composed for Junior Band, and the composer re-scored and expanded it for full band in 2006.
It takes the form of variations loosley based on the descending third motif heard in the initial theme and the title has no further meaning other than the fact it was written by a scot to be played in the St. Andrew's Hall!
