  Rob Collinson was born in the North East of England, and from an early age showed promise as a composer. He played cornet for his local Brass bands before expanding his musical experience by playing trumpet with orchestras and Big bands. By his mid-teens he was working regularly as a conductor.

  He studied composition at the University of Hull – working extensively with the Reader in Composition, Anthony Hedges, before undertaking further study at the University of Durham.

  Although much of his output is aimed at Brass Bands and ensembles, he has written non-brass music for a series of therapeutic audio recordings and had his work performed/broadcast by The Chapter House Choir of York Minster, the Northern Sinfonia Wind Ensemble and the Allegri String Quartet.

  He is now based back in the North East where he works freelance as a composer/arranger, undertakes editorial/engraving work on behalf of other publishers, and provides a location audio recording service with several commercial CD recordings to his credit.

  He is available to commission – anything from a radio jingle to a full scale concert piece.
